The application for special exception to build a commercial firearms training facility was withdrawn tonight by their spokesman, Andrew Valois.

You can read coverage from Envision Frederick County here.  Frederick News post also covered the event.  You can read their breaking news here.  We will update with more news coverage as we receive it.

The Sugarloaf community is pleased that Old Line Arsenal withdrew their application for this special exception for a firearms training facility at the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain.

The testimony given to the board recognized the unique nature of Sugarloaf Mountain and the surrounding areas and the need to preserve them from development that is not compatible with the existing communities in and around the mountain.

The Sugarloaf Alliance thanks residents, businesses, politicians, civic organizations, visitors and friends of Sugarloaf Mountain for their support in opposing this proposal.  We will continue to fight to preserve the mountain and protect our community.

The Sugarloaf Alliance is an organization dedicated to the preservation of a precious natural resource, Sugarloaf Mountain, a National Natural Registered Landmark and region.
